Kiyomizu-dera

Kiyomizu-dera at sunset

I went with my new buddy Gerard to see Kiyomizu-dera; one of the more beautiful and famous places in Kyoto. That temple sits on the side of a mountain and some of the structures are over 1200 years old!

The lack of updates is intentional. I have been going through a tough time at work. I’ll keep it brief but last month my salary came two weeks late and the company always seems to be on the brink of bankrupcy with staff salaries having been late for months now, teachers being evicted from their apartments because the company has not paid the rent, advertisers not having been paid, and branches being closed.

This has led to a mass exodus of teachers all over the country and floods of rumors coming in every day. The company has not exactly been forthcoming with any news. This is the worst part – being kept in the dark when motivation and confidence is at an all time low.

I am not having a fun time at work. It’s like climbing a mountain everyday just to get there and climbing it again to stay. I have some plans but basically I’m going to ride it out and try to get on the dole.

Wow that’s a shitty deal! Sorry to hear that man… I was wondering where you had disappeared to. Remember the days before I got a real job and I could stay up and actually see you on MSN? Now I feel like I’m out of the loop.

I hope things go on the up and up for you. Sounds grim though :(

Thanks Dennis. I’ll be ok. I’ve had some rough patches but the woman is there for me and I have some chums to rely on when the going gets tough. I bought a punching bag recently and it has saved lives!

Hey Jerry – that is a shitty deal. Haven’t seen you on msn in ages (damn “real job”) but I gotta say – I went through the same situation on co-op term for a failing dotcom and my two cents is GET THE FUCK OUT. The warning signs are all there. No sense in sinking with the ship here, dude. You owe them nothing, and they’re going to end up paying you nothing and beyond being angry with the company, you’ll be frustrated at having no money. There are no updates because there’s no point in giving you an update. No news is just as bad as the bad news. Trust me, get out while the getting is good. Work on that resume, and get yourself out there. It will only get worse.

Thanks Justin. No worries, I know all the warning signs. I have a plan. At worst I can bunker down and let the fallout consume the masses first.
